What should you know before booking removals in Reading across the Thames

Caversham and Emmer Green
A mix of resident permit zones and unrestricted roads. Check the zone boundary for your specific street before confirming the van position.
New builds (South Reading, Shinfield)

Parking suspensions are applied for through Reading Borough Council. You apply for a temporary suspension of a specific bay or street section, pay a fee and the council posts notices. We advise on timing and what to ask for, but the application sits with the homeowner. If a suspension is not in place and the van cannot park within a reasonable distance, the crew will use a shuttle or hand-carry over a longer distance. Both add time. What’s the plan for moving day around Reading traffic pinch points (A329(M), M4 J10/J11, IDR)

The A329(M) spur connects the M4 at Junction 12 directly into central Reading and feeds into the IDR (Inner Distribution Road) that circles the town centre. Common mistakes people make when booking removals in Reading
- Booking without a survey. An online estimate based on bedroom count misses loft contents, outbuildings, a piano or access problems that change the crew size and timing.
- Leaving parking to chance. Assuming the road will be clear on moving day is the single most common cause of delays. Book a suspension or co-ordinate with building management in advance.
